Komatsu has released its 860E-1K rigid frame truck for the mining industry.
The 860E is powered by a 2 014-kW, 16-cylinder, two-stage turbocharged Komatsu SSDA16V160 diesel engine that is Environmental Protection Agency Tier 2 certified.
Komatsu claims the vehicle is the first of the company’s trucks to employ a Komatsu-designed drive system with the newest Siemens ac power controls, allowing the 860E to operate with smooth application of torque and traction while achieving a maximum speed of 64,5 km/h.
The supplier says the machine’s trolley-assist system, which can be used on either 1 600-V or 1 800-V lines, enables the 860E to climb steep grades at an efficient speed while maintaining low engine revolutions per minute, thus saving fuel and prolonging engine life.
The truck features an ultraquiet dynamic retarding system which achieves a 10-dB reduction in sound levels rated at 3 469 kW. The retarding system is complemented by four-wheel wet-disc brakes.
When fitted with a standard body, the 860E’s struck load capacity is rated at 122 cubic metres and its 2 to 1 heaped capacity is 168 m³. The truck’s loading height is 6,37 m.
