Trucking company to the mining industry scorns QLD roads

MINERAL and Mine Movers Transport has urged Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads to improve road safety.

The trucking company says claims the department is failing its duty of care to the vehicle drivers.

Company owner Peter Schuback says the roads are unsafe. He says Queensland highways are plagued by uneven surfaces, broken edges, potholes, “excessive drop offs” and are unfit for wet weather conditions.

If the department does not act, Schuback it can be prosecuted under the Civil Liability Act, which puts the onus on an individual or public authority to rectify a danger once notified of it if it falls within their responsibilities.
