RIO TINTO has resumed operations at the Cape Lambert port in Western Australia after declaring force majeure when a rail car dumper was damaged.
The company has resumed full operations at the port since some shipments were suspended from 3 September 2008.
A rail car became jammed in a dumper when hauling ore from an outback mine on 31 August. Rio says it did not incur significant damage and returned to peak cycle well ahead of schedule.
The company operates five rail car dumpers in the Pilbara, two of them at Cape Lambert.
