Mine vehicle operator enters Miss Universe Australia

A 27-year-old female mine vehicle operator for Clermont Mine has entered the Miss Universe Australia contest joining the many young hopefuls vying for the title.

Jamie Schauble may just be the diamond in the rough. She was the first female trainee machinery operator and then completed a two-year trainee ship at Blair Athol Coal Mine, where she is currently employed by Rio Tinto Coal Australia.

The beauty has operated 180-tonne dump trucks and also a grader dozer previously but is now working as a training co-ordinator for the maintenance department.

Schauble says her unique experiences in the mining industry may present a different edge to other competition entrants.

The contestant claims she would love to become not only a model but a good role model for other young women who live in rural areas.
