SMALL and medium Victorian manufacturers will have access to ‘world-class services’ to boost their productivity and competitiveness with the opening of a $32m manufacturing centre at Dandenong.
The Victorian Enterprise connect Manufacturing Centre, which officially opened on 10 October 2008, aims to foster innovation and technology in Victorian manufacturing and provide small and medium businesses with better access to ideas and technologies.
The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s $250m National Enterprise Connect network to cater for the resources sector and other industry capabilities.
The centre provides companies with business reviews, tailored advisory, client management and other services, as well as grants of up to $20,000 for business improvements.
The centre will provide up to 400 Victorian companies with direct assistance each year, with a further 600 supported through workshops and network activities.
The Federal Government has also established the Future Manufacturing Industry Innovation Council as part of its enterprise connect scheme.
