Macarthur investigates vehicle accident
A rear dump truck ran over the front of a four-wheel driveA COAL miner is investigating an accident at one of its central Queensland mines after a dump truck ran over part of another vehicle.
A Caterpillar 789 rear dump truck ran over the front of a four-wheel drive at Macarthur Coal’s Copabella mine site on 14 September 2008.
The 28-year-old driver was taken to Moranbah Hospital with ‘slight’ injuries.
Macarthur has re-enacted the incident, and believes the vehicle was in the dump truck’s blind spot.
The company has changed the design of intersections at the mine site from ‘Y-shaped’ to ‘T junction’.
