AN increase in Queensland mining vehicle fires has sparked the concern of coal mine inspectors.
The state’s chief inspector says there have been an “alarming number” of fires in mine-site-vehicle engine bays, particularly diesel turbo-charged ancillaries.
A central highlands mine was temporarily shut down last week after following three separate engine bay fires.
A state-wide review is now underway.
