Bucyrus delivers to BHP Australia
The machine will top the scales at 6613tBUCYRUS has signed a contract with BHP Billiton to supply a new walking dragline for use in its Australian mines.
According to the company, the 8750 dragline will provide the best solution for its long-term production requirements.
Dragline excavation systems are used in surface mining applications to move overburden above coal and in tar-sand mining operations.
The machine will top the scales at 6613t and carry up to 106 cubic metres of material with a rated suspended load capacity of 354t.
Bucyrus CEO, Tim Sullivan, says its 8750 dragline is one of the largest models operating in the world today, and has been increasingly adopted for use in Australian mines.
