QUEENSLAND Mining and Engineering (QME) Exhibition director John Gorton has already met with key industry groups in preparation for the ninth event which will be held at the Mackay showgrounds from 27 to 29 July 2010.

Gorton has met with Mackay Tourism, Mackay Regional Council and the Mackay Show Society to make sure everything is in place for next year's event.

The organisers say that in 2010, while the exhibition would still be a supplier-meets-buyer event, the show may host an educational aspect with guest speakers expected to feature.

Gorton says that while it is exciting preparing for the next exhibition, he says that it is difficult because it is hard to predict what impact the current economic climate will have. But he does say that he expects there will be a focus on cost-effective, environmentally-safe and productive themes from exhibitors.

QME 2008 was considered by the majority of its 500 exhibitors and more than 10,000 high-quality professional visitors to be the most impressive edition yet.
